Dry operation process is applicable to drying ,screening ,air classification for

magnetic, non magnetic ,non conductor, Conductor for quality product. Category

equipment is used for this purpose are, lime, w.h.i.m r m s ,crossbelt,for separator

Which is mainly dealing with magnetic properties. High tension separator,

electrostatics, Esp. separator are used for conductor And non conductor properties.

Table concentrate from wet plant as primary non conductor heavies is then feed in

the rotary drum drier up to 90-100;c temperatures. the dried up minerals thus

obtained are lifted to high tension roll separator by bucket elevators H.T. S operate

at Around 35000- 4000dc voltage which to applied to separate conductor from non

conductor fraction. Those conductor fraction is again passed through induced

magnetic separator and diverted to cross belt and bucket elevator to Separate

magnetic conductor and non magnetic fraction high intensity magnetic is run at 0,5 —

1 amp and 200-250 rpm for it As result ilmentite nearly 95-97%grade may be

available non magnetic fraction which is contains rutile as a non conductor Is again

diverted through the same process in H.I magnetic separation which is run at 2.5-

amp and 40-60 rpm to get zircon As a non conductor ,non magnetic. the product is

then passed through shaking table via hydrocylone. Table consecrate Gives zircon

production . again air classification for up gradation if need . garnet and monazite

which is obtained in magnetic and non magnetic is again subjected to Kasson

vibroscreen to upgrade of garnet over size 88-85% under trace monazite Physical

Quantity of mineral sand deposits located in the costal belt of Bangladesh is reported to be

approximately 4.4 million ton heavy mineral with average 18% of heavy minerals .and it is

suitable for mining either -by wet dredging or dry using earth moving equipment , excavate

and transport the sands .but it has no environmental affect. Australia, sri lanka, India, south

Africa, u.s.a, Malaysia. brazil, Bangladesh are major producer of this minerals . and its

consumed many countries of the world ,including Bangladesh .so it is observed that% grade

of individual mineral achieved in the pilot plant separation varies depending on the deposit

of raw sands .however. pilot plant processing for individual separation has attained

remarkable progress some of mineral production such as magnetite.ilmenite.have been

already reached in commercial grade . the grade of zircon and garnet, is nearly commercial.

Pilot plant small scale production is may be Capac able of demand in our country, if

consumer is Surety of constant ly intending .paper mill, Bangladesh oxygen, pigment

industries and many ceramic industries. Bangladesh insulator and sanitary ware factory,

paper mill, rubber industries. Bangladesh welding electrodes Rahim steel mills, and a few

chemical factory .t.v face plate. Industries, steel mills ,are major users of this mineral of our

countries, titanium, and zirconium Bearing sands and other valuable mineral recovering is

We are depend on variety of minerals for Our industries at present through out the country as well as world now world rapidly Growing population and environmental degradation arouse concern about the future Sustainability of the society, so we have been undertaken active involvement for accurate information on the significance of mineral resources . advanced modern method Of mineral processing ,operation, and marketing . mineral sand deposits along the coastal Belt of Bangladesh constitute a potential mineral resource of the country .the beach sand mineral contains rutile, which is approximately 95% titanium dioxide and is extensively Used in pigment industries , papers mill rubbers ,cosmetics and manufacture of welding Electrode fluxes manufacture of titanium metal, and aircraft frames, jet engines. Many other purposes. Ilmenite, is also a sources of titanium dioxide . it is the major deposit Of our country .but due to low grade tio2 it is not suitable for up gradation in to synthetic rutile. Ilmenite is also applied in sand blasting , x-ray shielding purpose and titanium stag ,pig iron .Zircon ,whose chemical composition is zirconium silicate, which is extensively used in ceramic industries, foundries refractory and steel mill, electronic application and Mfg of zirconium metal. ,zircon flour is particularly used in higher temperature application and is also applied in t.v plates for protection from harmful xrays garnet, is used as abrasive Mgf of emery paper and cloth. Wheel grinding stone.Kyanite as a source aluminum is used many purpose Magnetite principal source of iron is used in the manufacture of ferrite rods and radiation shielding blocks in the x-ray machine and used in black and red oxide Monazite as a source rare earth which is presences thorium is used for nuclear technology The paper deals with basic process technology of mineral sands recovering in pilot plant from single deposit assemblages including mixture of zircon, rutile garnet, Ilmenitite magnetite Monazite kynaite The process is not so easy it is a vast and complex subject particularly grain size Distribution ,vary for each individual mineral .variation its specific gravity, colors and chemical Composition and variation in magnetic and electrical properties & many other factors. The pilot plant was commissioned 1975 under the administrative control of B.A.E.C. it was Originally designed with the intention of flow sheet development for batch testing and preparing A preliminary feasibility study of mineral sand quality production and ultimately to build up of a Commercial production to exploit of those mineral resources. Basically the entire separation of heavy mineral s in the plant is divided into two categories 1) wet section, Dry section 2) dry section Wet section- this categories of separation consist vast majority of heavy mineral collected after. extraction from light sand on the basis of flotation and wet gravity separation. This gravitational separation is accomplished by wet spiral, gravity and shaking table .depending on grain size specific gravity of sand ,most of the light mineral are rejected with the help of wet slurry by the spiral mechanism . in this regards. 10-35% of heavy mineral may be available. The H.M that is output from the wet spiral is then cleaned in the attritiner in attritiner grain surface is mostly cleaned by hitting and rubbing against other to free the surface coating . the clean concentrate heavy mineral is then passed through low intensity magnetic separation to separate mainly magnetite for magnetite production .the non magnetic is then processed in shaking table the shaking action of the motor and pressure of the Cox,sBazar next pages.2
